The average monthly wage in Russia in nominal terms in 2017 was 35,000 rubles. Or 30,500 rubles after deduction of income tax of 13%.
But this is the average wage in the whole of Russia, which takes into account the salaries of high-paid executives in the largest cities.

Also, salaries vary greatly by region, in Moscow and St. Petersburg they are much higher, for example, in Kurgan they are much lower.


Example of salary level per month:
The handyman is 10 000-15 000 rubles ($ 160-250)
The seller-cashier in the store 18 000- 30 000 rubles ($ 300-500)
Specialist in the office 25 000-40 000 rubles ($ 400-700)
Head of direction or department 40 000-80 000 rubles ($ 700-1300)
Director of the department 80 000-140 000 rubles ($ 1300-2300)

Pensioners receive an average of 10 000-12 000 rubles ($ 160-180). 


To retire in Russia, men go to the age of 60, women in 55 years. From 2019, it is planned to increase the retirement age, for men up to 65, for women up to 63 years.
Life expectancy in Russia is 63 years for men and 74 years for women.
In terms of life expectancy, Russia is on the 121st place between Fiji and Trinidad and Tobago.


The working day in Russia usually has a duration of 9 hours (8 working hours and 1 hour lunch). Of course there are exceptions in the form of a shift work schedule, in this case the duration can be 12 hours. In a month, an average of 170-180 hours is obtained.

Weekends are usually Saturday and Sunday.

The government set the standards for food, they are 5 500 rubles ($90) per person. But this does not mean that in Russia cheap products, this amount is calculated based on the consumer basket. This is the cost of the food basket.

fish - 50 grams
milk and dairy products - 80 grams
bread - 300 grams;
potatoes - 280 grams
fruit - 160 grams

Obviously, an adult can not survive consuming such a small amount of food. The real cost of food for an adult is 8000-10000 rubles ($ 135-170).

Shoes - 4000 rubles ($ 65)
